Did you know that our Sav Blanc is bottled in a lighter weight glass this year?
This is an intentional decision to lighten our carbon footprint and be kinder to our planet. Yep, just by sitting back and enjoying that glass of Savy, you’re helping our planet! Win / win right?
Winemakers have a responsibility just like everyone else to lessen their impact on our planet and one of the easy ways we can do this, is by using less glass.
I have mentioned this before and if you've been following me for a while, you’ll know this is something I am passionate about. The energy and water used to make glass can be extensive. By using lighter weight glass, we can make an immediate impact.
The Sustainable Wine Roundtable, a London-based coalition of wineries, distributors and retailers, announced an international agreement to lower the average weight of bottles they sell from 550 grams to below 420 grams by the end of 2026.
Naked Wines is included in this mix, and Naked Wines USA has voiced and committed to their reduced bottle weight across their online range.
The retailers agreed not just to reduce the weight of "own-brand" labels but also to work with supplier producers to lower weights on their bottles.
Did you know that glass, is the most significant contributor to wine’s carbon footprint? Yep, as much as nearly half of the total, depending on distance of transport and the rest.
So, when you hit 'add to cart’ on a bottle of Enfant Terrible Sav Blanc, rest assured, you're not only choosing a great drop, but you're also helping our environment.
