G'day Angels,
Did you notice what dropped on Naked last week?
Yep, it was my new vintage of Shiraz and Cabernet!
I appreciate your patience and it is awesome for both me and you, to have them available to purchase again. My 2022 McLaren Vale Shiraz and 2022 McLaren Vale Cabernet are fast becoming my hero wines and Angel favourites.
If you’re not familiar with the wines; the 22 McLaren Vale Cabernet demonstrates typical regional charm and definitive varietal fruit flavour. With blackcurrant and green tobacco flavours, it is full bodied with structured tannins and a dusty sweet oak finish. I attributed both the strong flavour and yield increases, to the much milder conditions.
The grapes reached a flavour ripeness before sugar ripeness, which is something we haven't seen in McLaren Vale for quite a few years. The wines are showing really bright, rich, deep fruit flavours and the vintage intake was smooth and relaxed allowing me to 'cherry pick' exactly when to harvest the grapes to make the ideal wine.
The 22 McLaren Vale Shiraz is dark crimson-purple and treads a fine line between being both elegant and bold. It shows the rich, dark fruits that McLaren Vale does so well, and has a linger on the pallet which is quite intriguing. The fruit was sourced from 3 distinct McLaren Vale sub region vineyards; Blewitt Springs, Seaview Heights and Tatachilla Road. This wine takes advantage of the depth of 'Terroir' to produce a regional Shiraz of utmost style and elegance.
Classic, strongly varietal McLaren Vale Shiraz or Cabernet typically sells for $25-35 at your local bottle shop. Under $25, this wine offers the chance to try a classic regional wine at an unbelievable price and for Angels at $14.99 who could resist?
