Enjoy The Unconventional

My commitment has always been to produce sustainable wines that are as close to natural as possible. I make wines that retain “naturelle” fruit flavours and display an elegant full body palate. This creates beautiful, easy drinking, food friendly wines to be shared with great company.

Story:

2017 is simply my finest vintage ever! On February the 18th during the hustle and bustle of vintage, I welcomed my daughter Jacqueline Francesca Marin into this world. To commemorate the happiest day of my life, I have named the first of my 2017 released wine after her; The Enfant Terrible ‘Jacqueline’ Rosé.

Tasting Notes:

Jacqueline delivers a serious Rosé that is feminine, dry, elegant and floral. A mix of wild flowers, dried herbs and a balanced zesty acidity. Warning quite delicate, so don't over-chill.

Story:

This wine is seasoned for 24 months in two and three year old sweet American oak. The final blend has a touch of Merlot (1%) and Shiraz (0.5%) blended back into the wine to make it silky smooth.

Tasting notes:

With blackcurrant and green tobacco flavours, it is full bodied with structured tannins and a dusty sweet oak finish. An ideal match with pasta or steak and salad. Try with my favourite food pairing, slow cooked lamb shanks.

James-Paul - The Owner

After a fifteen year journey in the wine industry encompassing winemaking, business development, operational management and sales; the opportunity to create my own wine company was a dream come true in 2012.

I was quickly selling 10,000 cases of Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon across three continents, regularly travelling the globe and was recognised in the Top 100 New International Wine Brands in Shanghai.

However, I ended up in a power struggle with my investors and felt my values were compromised. The authenticity of the wine and my vision were suffering. I walked away in late 2015. My signature series of cool climate sustainable wines; Handcrafted Enfant Terrible Wines was born.

James-Paul - The Winemaker

I started my career in 2000 as a cellar hand at Scarpantoni Estate, (Mclaren Vale), while studying a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Oenology at Adelaide University. I went on to be part of the team that won the Jimmy Watson Trophy.

Graduating from Post Graduate Diploma of Viticulture in 2003, it was time to pack a suitcase. I then completed multiple vintages in France, Italy and New Zealand. In 2006 I based myself in the UK, introducing [Yellow Tail] to the Brits.

By 2007 I was back in Australia making wine at one of Australia's largest wineries, Boar's Rock, Waikerie. Three vintages later, I moved to Sydney followed where I undertook an MBA at UTS. Upon completion, I joined the commercial service team at Boar's Rock in 2010 where I met the Inspire Vintage (IVA) founders. Over the next three years I helped build the company into Australia's 8th largest wine exporter to China.

In 2016 I was welcomed into the Naked Wines family with my current label Handcrafted Enfant Terrible Wine.

James-Paul  - The Family Guy

Things changed February 18th 2017, during the hustle and bustle of vintage, I welcomed my daughter Jacqueline Francesca Marin into this world.

With my wings clipped, this flying winemaker started the next chapter of his life accumulating in purchasing a property on the outskirts of Milton within the Shoalhaven Wine Region of NSW.

We (with Jen my partner and biggest supporter) have established a small boutique vineyard, olive grove and eventually a cellar door and we look forward to welcome locals, Naked Angels and visitors alike.

We thank the Naked Angels in particular for all your support, as the purchase of this property has made my dream come true.

Enjoy the unconventional,
